World Book Day 2021

One of the highlights of the academic year is always World Book Day. As with many things, we have had to celebrate separately this year, but it has been fantastic to see all of the pupils getting involved and inspiring others to read.

Mrs Bowden challenged the School community to record themselves reading and sharing their favourite books. By sharing their favourite books, Mrs Bowden hoped that they may inspire other pupils within the School to take a look at a new genre or book title they may not have considered for themselves.

Watch and listen to some of our pupils sharing their favourite stories:

However, it is not just the pupils that enjoy World Book Day, our staff do to. They had lots of fun creating their ‘Masked Reader’ quiz for the pupils. Each teacher read their favourite book but hid their identity and masked their voice. I wonder whether you could figure out who was who?

This year has also highlighted the importance of taking care of yourself and what better way to unwind than to read a good book. Although World Book Day celebrates children’s literature, we thought we would highlight some of our teacher’s recommendations.

Mrs Bowden says, “I like reading books which give you an insight into other people’s very different lives, they take you to foreign places you have never been or provide you with a little snippet of history!”

What is it that you look for in a book?
